Why this retreat?
Practicing Mindfulness and Self-Compassion in today’s frantic and challenging world helps to increase equanimity, resilience and peace. Whether you are new to mindfulness and meditation, or are wanting to deepen your practice, this retreat provides the environment and practices to allow you to become more peaceful, to embrace the present moment with loving kindness and finally share this gift with others.
During these 5 days, we are literally retreating, moving away from work, routines, electronic devices and maybe even reading. On another level, we are moving toward ourselves and the direct experience of being alive moment by moment. Using different mindfulness practices including contemplative meditations, mindful movement and walking, together with dharma talks this retreat offers a rounded package of experiences.
During periods of silence, we are allowing the world in more, not less, bringing awareness to our experience one breath at a time. It is nourishing to live in silence even for short time periods, allowing our minds to settle into open awareness instead of incessant thinking, refreshing the heart as we listen to ourselves more closely. When silence is combined with physical stillness we create the fertile conditions for insights to appear.
This is your chance to sow and nurture the seeds of mindfulness and develop the roots of compassion for yourself, enabling a return to your daily life with a sense of feeling nourished.
You will have the opportunity to enjoy the company of like-minded people, shared meals, inspiring new information as well as time for yourself.
This retreat fulfils the retreat training requirements for MBSR, MBCT, Breathworks and MSC teachers.
Near Praia do Meco, Portugal
This venue was designed for all those who enjoy the country, to see the stars, and above all to experience a healthy life style in a cosy and relaxed environment. It is a wooden built eco retreat at Aldeia do Meco where peace of mind becomes accessible and the voice of nature our unique companion. The Casal do Frade has a saltwater pool, a tennis court and a holistic spa. Guests can also rent bicycles and enjoy a 20 minute walk to Praia do Meco or fully engage in the sense of retreat remaining in the 7 hectares of beautiful grounds .Our aim is to have sole use of the venue so maximising our sense of retreat and experience.
Full board and all tuition. Arrivals 4-5 pm Tuesday 10th September, departing after lunch on Sunday 15th September.

11.30- 13.00 A combination of practice - Sitting meditation/ Mindful walking/Body Scan etc

14.00 - 17.00 Free time * individual contemplation and practice (opportunities for 1:1 with the facilitators)
17.00 - 18.00 Meditation practice, Dharma talk
18.15 - 19.30 Dinner
19.30 - 20.30 Free time
20.30 - 21.15 Closing the day in silent meditation, deep relaxation, yoga nidra
During your free time you can relax in nature, go for a walk, rent a bicycle, swim in the salt water pool, have a treatment in the spa or go to the beach.
All rooms are ground floor, en-suite and opening out onto terraces and the garden.
You will be provided with all freshly prepared meals and fresh fruit and drinks will be available all day.
You will be served healthy vegetarian meals, with home-grown vegetables and local and fresh ingredients. Our chef prepares every meal with a lot of care and love, and takes special care of specific diet needs.
